Projects

Whatever the project, there is always a process that requires: -

Careful Investigation - Analysis - Research and Development - Discussion - , Recommendation -  Implementation - Management - Cost Control and Monitoring.

Long years of experience in marine and non- marine Consultancy is applied in a number of ways ranging from full Project Management to Consultation on specific subjects within a project.

The following gives an idea of the scope and range : -

Maritime related projects, such as Marinas and the Infrastructure, including Repair, Service and Maintenance facilities.

Projects associated with the New construction, Re-building, Restoration and Re-fitting of vessels.

Design work associated with functions, systems, ergonomics, space utilisation and habitability in vessels and marine and non-marine facilities.

Organisation, Management and Systems in marine and non-marine areas of interest.

Refitting and Maintenance Supervision

For the absentee yacht owner, leaving their vessel in foreign marinas and contracting for work to be done, can give cause for anxiety.  Differences in culture, language, lack of education, perceptions of working practices, standards, levels of honesty and sense of responsibility are some of the factors that need to be considered.  There are many excellent and highly motivated contractors, with a wealth of experience and knowledge to offer, the problem is knowing whom they are and where they are to be found. The Consultant plays a valuable role as supervisor and interface between the owner and those providing services and work upon the vessel, where knowledge and experience of local conditions, together with an unbiased and detached view is the keynote here.

The involvement ranges from a series of inspections to complete management of the refit to include selection of contractors, contractual arrangements, scheduling and strict quality and cost control.  Regular communication allows you to know what is happening and how much it is costing.

Delivery and Crew Selection

Whether for delivery or temporary and permanent crew positions, the problem is not finding people, it is finding people with the right qualifications, experience, attitude, personality and sense of responsibility.

Yacht Chartering and Delivery is the concern  of  experienced professionals with businesses to run and reputations to maintain.

The crewing of private yachts has much to do with the personality, concepts and perceptions of the owner and the working relationship with the Captain and the crew. With this in mind, the service available here is not as a Crew Agency, rather that of Interview, Selection, Logistics and Organisation.

 Investigation

In cases of dispute between parties and where litigation is envisaged, an investigation and report by an Independent Consultant will assist in establishing the true facts of the case.  The experience of the Consultant will highlight issues that would not otherwise be considered, by a process of examination and logical deduction from a detached and unbiased view point.

Technical Manuals

Even the small yacht can appear complex and present a daunting prospect for even the experienced sailor.  Technical information is often a collection of manufacturers manuals dumped in a locker, with much of the data not necessarily relevant to the vessel or the installation.  For manuals to be useful, they must be pertinent to the vessel, logical, informative and easy to understand and where necessary, cross refer to other related systems.

Compiling Technical Manuals is a task requiring patience, logical thought and imagination, not to mention long experience of compilation and usage.  The experience available ranges from oil and gas production platforms, production processes, boiler cleaning, small and large vessels, electronic and computer systems and so on.

Salvage

Frequently vessels suffer more damage during salvage, than occurred when going aground.  The enthusiasm of many of those rushing to assist is not always matched by the knowledge, experience and cool judgement required. Ego, pride and lack of leadership and co-ordination, can do more harm than good.

The objective is to quickly assess the situation, develop an operational plan with alternatives, assemble the necessary equipment and the right personnel and to salvage the vessel with minimum damage and with regard to human life and safety.
